  Sri Dharmaprakasha D. Banumaiah (1860-1932)
 
D. Banumaiah's Polytechnic was established during the year 1983, under the able management of D. Banumaiah's Educational Institutions, Mysore. D. Banumaiah's Educational Institution was founded as a trust in 1919 by Dharmaprakasha Rao Bahaddur Sahukar D. Banumaiah, a leading business giant in Mysore city. His main aim was to provide education to poor and downtrodden children of the country and to achieve educational prosperity. Even though, basically he belonged to a poor family but later developed in a phased manner. Whatever he earned, the money and the wealth, by business, had been sacrificed for the upliftment of poor student by constructing schools and colleges and rendered remarkable services to the society through education to needy persons on one hand and provided excellent job opportunities to hundreds and thousands of families to achieve economical prosperity on the other hand.
